COD OF BSPL & KPL

Port and commercial city ‘Chattogram’. The Karnaphuli River, in one hand, has provided the city with business opportunities. On the other hand, it has increased its beauty manifold. Baraka Group’s relationship with this city is more than 5 years. Baraka Group has been partnering with the socio-economic development of Bangladesh by building new power plants since its inception. In the same section, the Baraka Group adopted two new power projects in Chattogram. Baraka Group has established two large power generating companies at the Shikalbaha, Chattogram on the bank of the Karnaphuli River. One is Baraka Shikalbaha Power Limited (BSPL) and the other is Karnaphuli Power Limited (KPL). Shikalbaha Power Limited has a capacity of 105MW and Karnaphuli Power Limited has a capacity of 110MW. Two agreements were signed with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) to implement the projects. To this end, the Baraka Group purchased about 14 acres of land and implemented two projects within the same premises. Later, Baraka group has purchased 12 engines for two projects from Finland’s world-renowned power generating engine maker, Wartsila. The furnace oil will be used as a refueling in two of these power plants. In addition to generating electricity at KPL, an additional 6 MW will be generated through the turbine by utilizing the emitted steam. To protect the balance of the environment, the oil mixed water will be purified with a water treatment plant (WTP) before release into the river. The aesthetic beauty of the plant has increased manifold as the plant’s location is surrounded by Karnaphuli River. At the same time, it will be easier for the company to transport fuel oil by lighter ships along the river. BSPL, which has a capacity of 105 MW, has started commercial production of electricity and supply to the national grid from 24th May 2019 and KPL, which has a capacity of 110 MW, has started commercial production of electricity and supply to the national grid from 18th August 2019.
